Developing Workforce Skills

Building tomorrow’s workforce

Manufacturing’s future depends on its people. As skills needs evolve and experienced workers retire, attracting, developing and retaining talent is a priority for businesses across the borough.

MTF works closely with manufacturers, local councils and education partners to strengthen the talent pipeline at every stage. From sparking curiosity in the classroom to apprenticeships, academies and leadership development, we’re helping build the workforce that will power manufacturing’s future.

Mini MBA in Sustainable Leadership

University-led leadership development, built around manufacturers needs.

Manufacturing leaders don’t have a year to take out, so we’ve built our own leadership programme. Five intensive learning days with Ulster University Business School, taught through factory visits and hands-on workshops rather than lecture theatres, on the things our members told us they’re wrestling with: sustainability, culture and communicating with impact.

Participants get a delegate place at the SustainX Leadership Summit and 15 university credit points that stack toward a full postgraduate qualification.

Twenty fully funded places by the Department for the Economy. The 2026 cohort is now filled.

“By investing in people, we ensure that Mid and East Antrim is not just ready for the future — we are making the future.”
